Since 1979, the city has enjoyed the protection of the world organization UNESCO.

Part of the rich monumental heritage are the historic center of the city with Stradun, the Rector's Palace, the church of St. Blaise, Sponza Palace, Orlando's Column and interesting historic churches, cathedrals and city streets that are definitely worth a visit.
